Emma turned the BIG 1 years old on January 2, 2014! The first thing we did that morning was sing her Happy Birthday and set her loose. And to our amazement she figured out where Daddy's Peanut Butter Cheerios were. Out of all the boxes she decided to pull out, she picked Cheerios. She absolutely loves Cheerios and will eat them all day long. Lucky for us, she didn't spill the bag on the floor.
Daddy went to work and Auntie Janna came over to help me out with Emma since I am not supposed to lift more than 15 pounds. We played and ate and napped in the morning then headed up to the U hospital to see my surgeon. After our appointment, we met up with Janna's boyfriend Steve at the Corner Bakery Cafe for lunch. Janna bought a chocolate bundt cake to share with Emma for lunch. She was starting to get cranky since she had been up for awhile. She enjoyed a couple bites of cake then we left. By the time we got home, Emma went down for a nap and Janna left. Emma slept perfectly until Daddy got home so he could get her out of her crib.

We celebrated her birthday with family and friends on Sunday January 5, 2014. We decided to do her party at noon that way she could still get her morning nap in and be happy when people arrived. She did not follow her normal day to day nap schedule at all that day. She cried the whole time she was in her crib. She did fine when people got there but you could tell she was so tired. She cuddled with my brother Brett.
Krew gave her a push around the room on Dusty the Plane. She loves her plane she got for Christmas. It has a propeller that spins and lots of sounds.
I made two cakes for her birthday. Her cake was a spice cake with cream cheese frosting and hot pink sprinkles. Then we a chocolate cake with coconut pecan frosting. Emma was beyond tired when we started to do cake. We had to be quick to get her cute party hat on and get pictures of it. And when the cake arrived with Daddy she obviously was overwhelmed and tired that she just put her head down. We sang Happy Birthday and gave her a slice of cake. She wouldn't touch it at all. She is definitely a texture girl but it didn't help that she was exhausted.
My mom opened her gift to Emma with her before they left. We then gathered everyone in the living room and opened her gifts. She received more books, clothes and a few toys. We are so excited to wear the clothes, and read books. I read her books and she wanders off. I figure at least she is hearing the story even if she is in the other room
