Baby Update

On August 17, 2012 we had our 20 week ultrasound of the baby. We were so excited to see our little kid. We already had a name for a girl picked out and part of a name for a boy picked out. As we watched the tech do the ultrasound my eyes were all teary. It was just amazing what technology can show you. Our first ultrasound was so different from this one. First it actually looked like a baby in there and not just a peanut! We saw the heart beating and there were four chambers! Yay, from the cardiology nurse aspect! The tech told us the baby was holding the legs together pretty tightly so we were a little nervous we wouldn't be able to find out the sex. They gave us some pictures and DVD of the ultrasound. I seriously could watch the DVD all the time. I am just amazed at the baby growing inside of me. And to see the baby move on the ultrasound and not to be able to feel it yet is crazy. My favorite comment from Steve was "So the baby is actually moving in there? I just figured since Jess can't feel it, it was just chilling at the bottom." :)

We were having our close friends over that evening for a pool party. Initially the party was not intended to be a gender reveal party but once we knew what sex it was, we started to think of what we could come up with in a 2 hour period to surprise our friends. Then the idea came, lets do it with color in the pool. The race was on to find pool dye. Steve found it in Sandy but had to get there and back home in 5pm rush hour. 

Our guests started to arrive and I was talking to Shirley about the ultrasound and how cool it was. I really shouldn't have talked about it because I couldn't keep my brain from slipping! Now that I knew the sex, it was really hard not to put the correct label to the baby.

We had everyone gather around the pool and Steve put the color in the filters and turned the pumps on. We told everyone that whatever color comes out determines the sex.  

It's a Girl!!!

Most people have guessed the baby to be a girl! I really had no feeling of what the baby would be. A few weeks before our ultrasound, I did have a dream that I had an ultrasound and they told me it was a girl. My dream came true! We are super thrilled to have a baby girl. She is going to have her daddy wrapped around her finger! Steve is super excited to have a little girl. We already have her name picked out and ready. 

Our pool turned a shade of purple with the dye. We all had a blast swimming. Kayla is a fish and loves to be in the water as long as possible doing all the crazy tricks and diving under the water.Kimberlee loves the water and is getting to be such a great swimmer! I think she could have swam all night if she was allowed. At the beginning, Krew was a little nervous to get in the water but once he was in, he loved it. His favorite was to jump off the side into his parents arms.

Disneyland 2012

Here we go again! One of our favorite destinations to visit...Disneyland! This year we bought annual passes so we can go without paying twice as much. When I bought them, we had just found out we were pregnant and I figure we will go once before the baby is born and after the baby is born. It was a great trip as usual. I rode most of the rides that I normally would have ridden anyway. There were a few I didn't get to ride like Indiana Jones, Thunder Mountain Railroad and Matterhorn. 

While in line for Toy Mania I noticed how weird Mister Potato Head's eyes looked. When I mentioned this to my family they all thought I was crazy. Turns out polarized sunglasses make some things look weird. He looked like he had veins all through his eyes. 

My dad, Riley and I sat out from riding Screamin' and we watched as my mom, Steve, Melanie and Brett rode the ride. They are in the second car below.

Riley wouldn't ride on all the rides because she says they were scary from the last time she was there. Funny thing about that is she rode them all the last time and loved them. She would get off the ride and want to go again with the exception of the Tower of Terror. So this visit was a fight to get her to go on the rides and of course the second she got off she wanted to go back on! 

We visited the brand new Cars Land which was incredible. I swear we were in Utah at that moment. The details were amazing. You almost couldn't tell that it was all fake. Cars Land was packed with people. The waits for the 3 new rides ranged from 90 minutes to over 180 minutes. Needless to say we did not ride the rides. We visited the shops and ate some food. 

Back in Disneyland Park we headed to Adventure land where we ate some yummy food and rode some rides. We took Tom Sawyers boat around the lake. 

My parents left the park early this night and we decided to see if we could get on the new ride Racers. We jumped into the single riders line and waited almost an hour to get in the cars. It was a fun ride and takes you cruising through the valley and then you race against another car to win. 

The next day my parents, Steve and I took a ride down Splash Mountain. We got soaked which was nice because it was so hot. I felt like when I got soaked I had way more energy to play all day versus being dry and hot all day! Baby got a little fun ride too!

Waiting for the classic Autopia! What a difference in the sun versus the rain. Steve was my pedal man, my dad was Riley's. We raced around the track. Maybe someday Disneyland will upgrade the cars to use some sort of other fuel because they sure are stinky!

The only pic I took the last day was another trip down Splash Mountain. 

What a fun trip but we won't be going in July again! Way too crowded...all the rides had waits. The positive side of going in July...no rain!

Vegas

A few months back a bunch of girls from work decided to try and plan a Vegas trip for the summer. I was lucky enough to be invited down with this great group of girls! We booked the trip 3 or 4 months in advance but time flew by and before we knew it we were on the plane to Vegas. The whole flight down we chit chatted the whole time...it felt like the flight time was 5 minutes. 

Our flight into Vegas left early so we were all starving by the time we got there. We took a couple of taxis to our hotel and stashed our luggage. We made our way across the street to a place called Hash House a Go Go. It had a great menu to pick from and giant portions to share. It was super yummy and not bad priced at all. The conversation was quite interesting and became things that are normally taboo to talk about. I might have even blushed at some of the things being said. 

The hotel the girls picked out was based off the pool. It was a fabulous pool and compared to other hotels it was giant. Being in the 110+ weather was exhausting but hanging out at the pool was a nice refresher! I am not much of a tanning girl nor do I enjoy sitting in the sun. I swear I can feel my skin burning! The girls were fabulous in accommodating my needs for shade and cooling off in the pool. The hotel provided spots to fill your water bottles up but the water was a little warm. Surprisingly I never burned on this trip! 

That night we got dressed up for a night out. We walked clear across Vegas to a place called Diablos for dinner. By the time we sat down and ate it was almost 9 at night. We hadn't had any food since the morning breakfast....and I am pregnant. I actually did pretty well not eating much on this trip. Good thing Shirley was willing to go get food with me! 

After Diablos, we made our way through some of the bars. We landed in an Irish Pub where the ladies were pretending to be drinking their large beers!It was quite fun and funny to watch. I enjoyed the laughter and music that was provided. 

The most delicious breakfast was at a frozen yogurt place that was in the Mirage hotel. It was a great way to start the morning. Shirley joined me for breakfast while the other girls saved our spots at the pool. 

After swimming for half the day, everyone but Angela decided to head down the street to the mall where Forever 21 was located.  We stopped in at a pizza place in Treasure Island and enjoyed calzones, salads and pizza slices.  While we were at the mall, we made arrangements to see the show Absinthe that night. 

We dressed up that night for dinner and the show. What a bunch of hot sexy ladies!

Our plan was to have dinner at Serenity which was near the show but by the time we got there the wait was forever and our show would starting. We went into Caesars Palace and down to the Cheesecake Factory but once again the wait was long and we were running out of time. Our dinner came from the Caesars Palace food court which wasn't horrible. 

Absinthe was hilarious! I would highly recommend it if you aren't easily offended. One of the girls was very vocal which made for the security guards sitting behind her. We for sure thought we were going to be kicked out of the show! Luckily for us, we made it through the entire show. 

Our post show milkshakes that were very delicious inside the Mirage BLT restaurant. Burgers, fries, onion rings, and cheesecake ended the night fabulously. 

There is talk of doing a trip every couple of years or so to different places around the states. I am excited to be involved in these trips and can't wait to see where they take us. This was a great trip to be on just enough time in the hot heat of Vegas! Thanks girls!
