Another month is gone. Where do the days go? Emma is getting so big and is so smart. She is cruising all over the house. We finally put baby gates up in front of the stairs and in front of our door. And that has given me a little freedom from constantly tracking her down. Now Steve and I are just trying to be vigilant about making sure there are no small things on the ground or within reaching distance for her. For the most part, Emma can go anywhere in the house. She loves our big black bathroom that has a wall of mirrors. She tends to hang out in there talking and standing up at the mirrors. She also loves to stand up at our stairwell wall and look through the glass.

Emma is an incredibly happy baby. She loves to play and play and play. She gets super excited anytime we go outside. She flaps her arms and kicks her legs every time we go outside. She has tasted leaves and experienced the wind in her hair and face which makes her blink her eyes a lot! She loves her Cooper dog and will crawl to him and stand up holding on to him and squeal. She yells at Miss Toast the cat, I think because she won't let Emma touch her. We did go to Aunt Steph and Uncle Nich's house where she was able to touch a cat! Their cat, Stormy, is the most chill cat ever. However, she was a little nervous around Emma but I think it was only because Emma was yelling at her. If Emma had been quiet I think Storm would have been completely fine. She also got to experience a hyper dog, Gambit, jumping in her face. She still loved it and squealed with delight.
Steve went out of town for a weekend in October for the annual Fall trip with the boys. Emma and I were on our own the whole weekend. We decided to take Steph and Nich out for their birthday. We met up at the Melty Way for some delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and then went to Rita's Ice for some custard. Both places were very yummy. Later that night, Emma and I dressed up as pirates and headed to my parents for a pirate party. Every one looked great but we were missing my grandma. I think she was going to look great as a pirate since I helped her go shopping for her costume. Unfortunately she didn't make it to the party as she was feeling under the weather. We had fun taking pictures, eating Pirate balls and carving pumpkins. I spent the next few hours watching Kitchen Nightmares on Netflix and creating a photo book for my grandma. I started to have a funny pain in my abdomen but it felt like I had worked my abs out all day and now they were tired. At 10:30pm I took some advil and went to bed. An hour and a half later, the pain meds had not worked and the pain was much much worse. I took some Tylenol and tried to lay down again. Another hour went by and the pain still was awful. So at 1AM in the morning and feeling like I was going to die, I decided to call Steph and Nich to see if they could come over to take me to the hospital and to watch Emma. I self diagnosed before I got to the ED that my gallbladder was misbehaving. And I was right. I have had these weird pains for a few years, always at night but always responsive to advil or tylenol. This was the first time I have ever had pain that bad. My choices are to follow a lower fat diet or have my gallbladder removed. I am going to try to follow a better diet since it would make me an all around healthier person so we will see if it works.
For Halloween, Emma became a strawberry. A very neon strawberry. She was absolutely adorable in her costume. We took her to see both our grandma's, Steve's mother and my parents. Everyone was so excited to see her. We were my parents first trick-or-treater and our grandma's only trick-or-treater. When we got home, we only had about 4 groups of trick-or-treaters to our house. I was so happy that Emma didn't wake to the doorbell being rung.
For the past month, I have noticed that Emma's binki supply was slowly diminishing. I just figured that they were being left behind or lost at the homes of family who watch her. I bought her 5 new packs which equals 10 new binki's. Yesterday I was putting Emma down for a nap and was trying to find the 2 binki's she had had in her crib the night before. I looked underneath the crib all the way to the wall to only find one binki. I finally found the other one when I spied it stuck between the wall and the crib. I pulled her crib out and the mother load of binki's dropped to the ground. In all, I counted 16 binki's were stuck between the crib and wall. So now she has around 30 binki's. Hopefully that will be enough to last her until we take them away.
Happy October!
