27 Weeks

Wow!!! I can't believe this little girl is 27 weeks in my belly! It seems like yesterday that Steve and I woke up thinking maybe we are pregnant. I feel good for the most part. Heartburn and indigestion still get to me a lot. My life would be so much worse if there weren't drugs like Zantac. I think I would only have one child if  there was no drugs to help.
Emma Adella is moving a lot now and I can feel her all day long. I still love to feel her with my hand on my belly. It makes it seem real versus maybe I have a very active gut. I love watching my stomach move when she is squirming around in there. Poor Steve....some days he tries to feel her and the instant he puts his hand on my belly she completely stops moving. Maybe he calms her down???
I have had no cravings of foods or drinks...I think it's all the heartburn and indigestion fault. I still haven't gained any weight but I can definitely tell my belly is growing. I was always a stomach sleeper then I started having back pain years back. My doctor told me to sleep on my side or back. It took years to train myself to fall asleep on my side. But I always woke up on my back. Now they tell you no sleeping on your back...you will deprive your baby of the oxygen they need. I have 2 extra pillows and a wedge to help me stay comfortable at night. Yet I wake up in the middle of the night on my back and feel incredibly guilty! I can definitely tell a difference with moving around in bed with a belly...harder! It's really there and really in the way. This cute doctor Natalie at work told me that she finally gave in and bought a pregnancy pillow to help support her belly and that it was the best thing she ever bought. I can feel the strain on my stomach when I lay on my side....wedge inserted and feels much better!
Steve has accompanied me to every appointment up until the last one. We decided if they are doing the same boring stuff each time why waste his time off on it. He has been fabulous support! My appointment next Friday involves the glucose test. A little nervous about it...I don't like to fail things. I have no family history of gestational diabetes but that doesn't mean I couldn't have it. Steve and I chose not to do any type of testing on this baby simply because what will it change.
The closer and closer to our due date it gets the more and more nervous I get about delivery. It is so weird to me how this has changed my perspective. Back in high school, I followed my aunt at her job. She is a Labor & Delivery nurse...I wanted to do what she did. Graduated nursing school, took a job in L&D and learned tons of stuff. Of course I could never relate to these women since I have not had a baby. I still really want to try to go natural but I am not against drugs either. My plan is to stay home as long as possible to try to make that a reality. But it still freaks me out that 6-8 pound baby has to come out of a hole that doesn't seem that big!
I made all the remaining appointments with my doctor a couple of days ago. I guess these are the appointments where you really get to know your doctor and hopefully start discussing what type of birth and what drugs you want. We really haven't started those conversations yet and I feel like our due date is so soon. I really like my doctor and the best part that I like is that he comes to all his deliveries! Unless he is on vacation....I really hope he isn't on vacation with Emma decides to come.
Steve and I have been trying to work super hard on getting our main floor of our house updated and our style. We are almost done with the front room and entryway. I think this weekend we will be able to move on to the dining room and hallway. Thank goodness for new paint and flooring! It changes everything. I can't wait to get these rooms done because I really want to start on the baby room. I just want to get everything set up (even though I don't have any furniture). I need to feel organized and it's not happening yet.
